MINUTES OF ANNUAL MEETING TOWN OF JANESVILLE April 10, 2007 Posted: Friday, April 6, 2007 at the town office, Lion's Quick Mart, Consolidated School, Cork & Bottle West Court Street. Newspaper: Legal notice run in Janesville Gazette, Friday, April 6, 2007. Chairman of the Meeting: Town Chairman Edward Marshall Clerk of the Meeting: Town Clerk Andrea Peabody Others Present: (9) members of the public and the Clerk & Chairman & Treasurer Meeting called to order, followed by Chairman Marshall, at 7:34 p.m. in the town hall, 1628 N. Little Court, Janesville, Wisconsin. 1. Minutes of the 2006 Annual Meeting Moved by Bob Mielke, seconded by Gary Fox, to approve the 2006 minutes, as presented at the annual town meeting, as submitted by the town clerk and read by Chairman Marshall. Motion carried on voice vote. 2. 2006 Financial Report Copies of a 2006 Town Financial Report were available for inspection. Moved by Ray Gehrig, seconded by David Rebout to approve the 2006 Town Financial Report as presented by Treasurer Brown and completed by Deignan & Associates. Motion carried on voice vote. 3. Set Date for the 2008 Town Meeting Moved by Bruce Schneider, seconded by Gary Fox, to set Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at 7:30 p.m., the date and time, for the 2008 Town Meeting to be held in the Town Hall. Motion carried on voice vote. 4. Results of the Spring Election Chairman Marshall read the results of the Spring Election held in the Town of Janesville. 452 voters cast their ballots. Chairman Marshall thanked everybody that voted, and congratulated Peggy Augustine for her successful run for Town Treasurer. 5. 2007-2008 Town Road Maintenance Moved by Ed Marshall, seconded by David Rebout, to approve $125,000 for road maintenance for 2007. Motion carried by voice vote. It was noted the road trip will be scheduled as soon as possible. 6. Consider bid for clean up of Mount Pleasant Cemetery The cemetery fence line, small trees, and limbs all need to be cleaned up. Two bids were received for clean up of Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Janesville Jack submitted a bid of $600.00. Bret Knutson submitted a bid of $400.00. Moved by Gary Fox, seconded by Bruce Schneider to approve the bid from Bret Knutson for the clean up of Mount Pleasant Cemetery, to include the fence line, small trees, and limbs. It was agreed Bob Mielke will meet Mr. Knutson at the cemetery to show him exactly what is expected of him. If the bid is still less than $600.00, the clean up will go to Bret Knutson. Motion carried on voice vote. 7. Consider survey for Mount Pleasant Cemetery Chairman Marshall explained that a survey needs to be done in order to ensure what the Town owns of Mount Pleasant Cemetery. This can be done in conjunction with the Schiefelbeins’ surveying their property for a price of $750.00 (Town portion). Moved by David Rebout, seconded by Bruce Schneider to pay $750.00 for the survey of Mount Pleasant Cemetery in conjunction with the Schiefelbeins’ survey. Motion carried on voice vote. 8. Any Other Business 1) Chairman Marshall presented a letter from Clerk Peabody regarding the future of the Town website. Web hosting is set to expire in May, and the volunteer updating is no longer being done. The Clerk has had no success updating the website herself. Moved by Ed Marshall, seconded by Archie Henkelmann to have Clerk Peabody look into other options for the website as everyone would like to see it continue to exist. Motion carried on voice vote. 2) A letter was presented from the United States Department of Commerce requesting someone from the Town attend a meeting regarding the 2010 census. Moved by Ed Marshall, seconded by Bruce Schneider to have Clerk Peabody attend that meeting. Motion carried on voice vote. 9. Adjournment Moved by Bob Mielke, seconded by Gary Fox, to adjourn the 2007 annual town meeting. Motion carried on voice vote.
